$59.95/month speeds of 25 Mbps down/10 up
$74.95/month speeds of 50 Mbps down/25 up
$6.00/month for modem rental
FTTH requires additional equipment be placed at your location and requires a power source to operate.
Without a backup battery or alternate backup source such as a generator, customers will not be able
to make any calls, including emergency calls to 911. The only way to maintain the ability to use your
phone is by using some form of backup power. Our backup battery does not provide power to any services
other than voice. Home security systems, medical monitoring devices, modems, cordless phones and other
equipment will not run on our ONT battery.
Customers may purchase a 24-hour battery from Franklin Telephone Co., Inc. The battery consists of a
controller unit and three connected batteries. The charge for the battery unit will be $200 and a $25
installation fee. Customers can keep the existing 8-hour battery. At the point in time when the existing
battery no longer functions properly, you may purchase a new battery from us or decide to discontinue use of
a battery backup.
As mentioned above, if the electricity to your home goes out, FTTH phone service will not work unless
there is an alternate source of power. For both the existing 8-hour and 24-hour batteries, the actual amount
of standby power will depend on the age of the battery, whether you run your internet services during the
power outage, and the environment where the battery is stored. Conditions that are too hot, cold or dusty
will negatively impact the battery. The backup batteries are rechargeable and have an estimated useful life
span of 3-5 years. You can preserve battery life during a power outage by using your phone service sparingly
and not using any internet services.
Battery Testing and Monitoring
You are responsible for monitoring and maintaining your battery. The unit includes signal lights which
indicate whether: (1) the battery needs to be replaced; (2) an alarm has been silenced; (3) your service is
operating on either backup battery power or AC power; or (4) your battery is operating normally.
You can test the unit by disconnecting the AC power cord as described in the owner’s manual. The DC visual
indicator should turn green when AC power is disconnected and go out when AC power is reconnected. The
System Status visual indicator should stay green whether on AC power or battery power.
