Franklin Recreation Meeting January 8, 2018

Bridget called the meeting to order at 7:26 p.m..


Public Comment

Discussion about another paint and sip.Discussion about a mascot contest.



Approve Meeting Minutes

Bridget motioned to approve the meeting minutes from December 18. Stacy seconded. The motion passed.



Treasurerís Report

Warrants were signed for payments for basketball equipment. Bridgette met with the Town Treasurer last week and reviewed the Franklin Recreation budget for the town report.Discussion about further updates needed, including clarification on changes in the insurance line.Stephanie motioned to approve the Treasurerís Report pending clarification on the insurance question. Stacy seconded.The motion passed.



Recreation Directorís Report

Nothing to report that was not already on the agenda.



Action Item Review

The action items were reviewed and assigned.



Polar Express/Lighted Parade Recap


The Polar Express and lighted parade have received a lot of positive feedback. The weather made the event magical. There were 180 people who attended the Polar Express.Twenty-three vehicles were in the parade. Discussion about what could be done in the future to make the event run more smoothly/be even better. Thanks you note will be written to those who volunteered their time to help make this event great.




A calendar of all practices and games needs to be made. Shirts are in and need to be given out.



Paint and Sip

The paint and sip can accommodate 32 people and the list is full. There is a waiting list in case of cancellations.Members of the Franklin Recreation Department will provide snacks. Jon Young will provide all the painting supplies. 14th Star will provide beer samples.



Winter Carnival

The Winter Carnival will be held during the afternoon of February 3 at the Franklin Central School. A building use form needs to be filled out. Details of the event were discussed. Potential volunteers to run activities or donate raffle prizes will be contacted this week and the event will be planned in more detail at the next meeting on January 15.



Town Report

An article about what Franklin Recreation has accomplished needs to be provided for the Town Report. Bridget and Stephanie will work on this and it will be reviewed at the next meeting.
