The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 7:45 p.m. in the Homestead Dining Room for review:


7:45 – Keane Yandow and Donald & Tiffany Kennedy are requesting a sketch plan review for a subdivision in which they have submitted an application for a 6 lot subdivision and boundary line adjustment for property located at 1050 Kendall Rd in Franklin.  


The request may be reviewed at the Town Clerk’s Office, 5167 Main Street, during regular business hours.

Lake Carmi Boat Launch Stewards

The Franklin Watershed Committee is hiring Boat Stewards from the 2018 boating season.


Hours: approximately 20 hours per week; not to exceed 240 hours


Duration: Mid -May-Labor Day/Mid-September 2018


Location of Job: Stewards will work at Lake Carmi boat launches. There will be one post at the State Park boat Launch and another at the Fish and Wildlife Boat Launch located on Rte 120 in Franklin.


Compensation and Benefits: Stewards will be paid hourly at a rate to be determined based on the experience of the selected candidates. Benefits are not provided.


Job Description: Boat Launch Stewards will be trained to interact with the public, record and electronically enter lake-user information on mobile tablets, greet visitors to Lake Carmi and familiarize the public with aquatic invasive species information. Successful stewards will be trained to conduct watercraft inspections. Stewards will be required to work at high volume launch times totaling 20 hrs per week at the public boat launches on Lake Carmi from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend; weekend work is required. Time off by prior arrangement can be accommodated.

Skills/Interests Needed:

Excellent communication skills, with prior experience working with the public preferred.

Strong organization skills.

High level of motivation and enthusiasm.

Demonstrated skill in collecting and recording data and using tablets.

Physical ability to crouch and reach under vessels and experience working outdoors

Experience operating watercraft and/or motorized equipment along with the basics of boating, angling, and common outdoor recreation equipment are a plus.

Familiarity with the aquatic invasive species (AIS) in Lake Carmi and methods used to prevent further spread of AIS is highly desirable.

Valid driver’s license


Additional Information: Successful candidates will be required to attend paid training that will take place in May 2018.
